Between June 12 and 14, 2025, Tehran hosted the BRICS Educational Expedition, organised by the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund with support from Russian and Iranian partners. The event fostered substantive discussions on enhancing strategic cooperation between the two nations.

The expedition featured expert sessions examining multipolar world dynamics, enhancement of Russian-Iranian partnership, and youth engagement in BRICS initiatives. The programme also included cultural exchange events designed to foster deeper mutual understanding between Russia and Iran.

A highlight of the educational expedition was the session "The Youth Dimension of BRICS: New Horizons for Iranian Youth," featuring a presentation by Vsevolod Cheresov, Expert at the Country Analysis and Analysis of BRICS National Strategies Working Group under the BRICS Expert Council-Russia and Lead Expert of the Foreign Affairs Analytical Support Centre at HSE University.

In his presentation, Cheresov explored the current state and future prospects for cooperation among the BRICS countries in science, technology, and innovation (STI). He elaborated on existing dialogue mechanisms for interaction among member states, measures to support multilateral science initiatives, and the opportunities emerging for young people in these areas.

STI collaboration within BRICS represents both a strategic priority and tangible opportunities for young researchers to join international projects. Iranian youth are showing a keen interest in this topic, and as our discussion revealed, they hold significant expectations for BRICS

According to the expert, participants—including students specialising in humanities and technical disciplines, as well as young leaders from NGOs—expressed strong interest in Russian experiences, educational opportunities in Russia, and available internships. Numerous initiatives were proposed to establish sustainable educational and research ties between the youth of both countries.

The expedition concluded with a strategic session featuring pitches for youth projects aimed at enhancing Russian-Iranian cooperation. Young researchers showcased initiatives in education, scientific exchanges, entrepreneurship, and cross-cultural dialogue.

The Educational Expedition to Iran marked a significant step in advancing the BRICS youth agenda and fostering closer collaboration between young professionals from Russia and Iran.
